چکیده

Several recent earthquake events (e.g., 2008 moment-magnitude (MW) 8.0 Wenchuan, China; 2016 MW 7.8 Kaikōura earthquake, New Zealand; 2019 6.4–7.1 Ridgecrest sequence, USA) have emphasized the need to explicitly account for fault sources in probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA). Fault-based PSHA currently involves a number of significant but necessary modeling assumptions that mainly relate segmentation, multi-segment event occurrence, long-term interaction, and time-dependent/independent recurrence. Each these issues is typically investigated isolation, neglecting implications their dependencies. This study offers review current literature on fault-based PSHA, unifying state-of-the-art advances field within single harmonized framework. The framework specifically incorporates some underlying methodologies latest Uniform California Earthquake Rupture Forecast (UCERF3; Field et al., 2014), providing comprehensive means relaxing accounting ruptures standardized way, interpreting available data slip rates paleoseismic data) consistently, inferring time-dependent probabilities mainshock occurrence. proposed also accounts fault-interaction triggering between major known faults, using approach outlined by Mignan al. (2016) Toda (1998). A simple case established demonstrate framework's capabilities limitations, involving holistic investigation aforementioned assumptions' effect estimates. main findings this are (1) ground-motion amplitude estimates can change significantly (for certain return periods) depending segmentation used strict or relaxed excluding ruptures); (2) considering an ensemble faults with occurrence model changes shape curve respect time-independent assumption; (3) largest contribution differ cases; (4) interaction may those obtained classic which neglected). provides clear leveraging campaigns rate collections potentially better constrain

Soft Soil Seismic Design Spectra Including Soil-structure Interaction

Design spectrum is known as an essential tool in earthquake engineering for calculation of maximum (design) responses in a structural system. Soil-structure interaction (SSI), as a phenomenon of coupling of responses of a structure and its underlying soil, was explored after introduction of design spectra and has not been taken into account in developing a design spectrum traditionally. To cons...

Investigating surface fault Rupture Hazard Mitigation for shallow foundations by EPS wall using Numerical studies

Observing destroyed engineered structures and induced fatality due to faulting motivated engineers to consider possible solution for reducing damage to structures. Mitigations countermeasures should be applied when elusion is not possible. Finite element analyses verified through centrifuge model experiments is implemented in this study. Considering different fault dip Angel, critical position ...

Normal Fault Rupture Interaction with Strip Foundations

Observations after earthquakes where surface fault ruptures crossed engineering facilities reveal that some structures survived the rupture almost unscathed. In some cases, the rupture path appears to divert, “avoiding” the structure. Such observations point to an interaction between the propagating rupture, the soil, and the foundation. This paper i develops a two-step nonlinear finite-element...

A Time Dependent Pollution Routing Problem in Multi-graph

This paper considers a time dependent(the travel time is not constant throughout the day) pollution routing problem (TDPRP), which aids the decision makers in minimizing travel time, toll cost and emitted pollution cost.  In complexity of urban areas most of the time one point is accessible from another with more than one edge. In contrast to previous TDPRP models, which are designed with only ...

Seismic hazard zoning in Urmia urban area.

Today, the resiliency of the human centers, especially urban centers against the natural hazards such as earthquakes, is one of the main challenges in the targeted management of urban. One of the effective strategies in the control, containment and prevention of risks from earthquakes is zoning of urban areas in terms of vulnerability. In this regard, the purpose of this study was to determine...
